The new 2026 MoonWatch series pays tribute to the first Moon Watch to enter space, returning with a retro-inspired look.

The major update to this brand-new Moon Watch is its dial......It differs from the classic Moon Watch, while not being entirely faithful to the vintage CK2998. We have retained the so-called flat dial, without the steps typically found around the edge of a retro dial, while adding tall vintage-style hour markers. Naturally, it also features a pair of metal hands. Beneath the case back with the Moon Landing emblem is the classic TMIVK63 quartz movement. Overall, this is an elegant watch that combines modern execution with a retro-inspired design style.

This newly designed tribute plays an important role in the vintage style. It all begins with a stainless steel case that respects the original version, with a 39.7 mm diameter and symmetrically designed lugs. The thickness is 14 mm (48 mm lug-to-lug. The water-resistance rating remains 100 m.

Then there is the bezel. The inserts used are still made of black ceramic.Secondly, it retains the core tachymeter scale of the Moonwatch series while also redesigning the crystal. Although its appearance may be mistaken for Hesalite, it is in fact a brand-new sapphire crystal shape with an AR coating on the inner surface.

What is truly new here is the dial, which has not only changed in shape, it also features unprecedented colors and finishes. To recreate the tone of certain CK 2998 watches produced in the 1960s, we fitted the 2025 First Watch in Space with a dark grey-blue dial featuring a radial sun-brushed finish. To preserve the look of the vintage watch, the stepped dial returns.

Take a closer look at this brand-new watch and you will find classic details, such as the mandatory metal hands used for the hour and minute hands. The central chronograph hands are straight and finished in white, while the sub-dial is fitted with hands in a metallic finish or white baton-style hands, just like the 2012 version. One point of discussion is that all luminous inserts (hour markers and hands) are coated with a dark, vintage-style Super-LumiNova luminous coating. Personally, I like these designs. They pair beautifully not only with grey and blue, but also add a distinctive charm that sets it apart from the classic Moonwatch.
